THE HEALING POWER
Historically, any treatment procedures in saunas were performed by female sauna attendants (sometimes referred to as masseueses). During these procedures attendants made sure that the sauna room is sufficiently hot as well as flapped and rubbed the person to be treated.

COLLECTING BESOM MATERIALS
Materials for besoms must be collected at a correct time, which depends on the weather, the latency of spring, weather the trees have blossomed etc. In most cases, material collection commences right before Summer equinox and just right after. Oak is an exception to the rule, as the materials for oak besoms may be collected until the very end of August.

BESOM DRYING
After being made, besoms must be stored in a dark and dry place for a period of 1 - 2 weeks. If the room is not dry enough, the besoms shall begin to grow moldy on the inside.
